Job Description:

We are seeking an ambitious and commercially driven Business Development/ Area Sales Manager to develop and grow sales across Northern England.

The successful candidate will be responsible for promoting Norseal’s comprehensive range of fire door, acoustic, smoke control, fire stopping and sealing solutions to:

• Timber door manufacturers
• Architectural ironmongers
• Door set manufacturers
• Fire door manufacturers
• Specialist distributors
• Joinery manufacturers
• Passive fire protection companies
• Specification influencers

The role combines new business development, account management, product specification and relationship building to increase market share and revenue growth across the region.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development

• Identify, prospect and secure new customers within the timber door manufacturing and architectural ironmongery sectors.
• Develop strategic sales plans to achieve territory sales and margin targets.
• Create and maintain a healthy sales pipeline using CRM systems.
• Generate new opportunities through networking, industry events, exhibitions and referrals.
• Secure product approvals and preferred supplier status with key customers.

Account Management

• Manage and grow existing customer relationships.
• Conduct regular customer visits and business reviews.
• Deliver sales presentations and product demonstrations.
• Identify opportunities to increase product penetration within existing accounts.
• Negotiate commercial agreements and annual contracts.

Product Promotion & Specification

Promote Norseal’s portfolio including:

• Acoustic door seals
• Smoke seals
• Intumescent fire seals
• Automatic drop seals
• Glazing seals
• Sliding door sealing systems
• Fire stopping solutions
• Door hardware products
• Letterplates and security products
• Ironmongery protection systems
• Bespoke sealing solutions

Market Development

• Monitor competitor activity and market trends.
• Identify emerging opportunities in fire door compliance, certification and passive fire protection.
• Work closely with technical and marketing teams to support product launches and campaigns.
• Provide accurate market intelligence and customer feedback.

Project & Specification Selling

• Engage with manufacturers at design and production stages.
• Support customers with product selection, compliance requirements and technical solutions.
• Work with architects, specification writers and project stakeholders where appropriate.
• Develop opportunities that lead to long-term specification of Norseal products.

Reporting

• Maintain accurate CRM records and forecasting.
• Produce monthly sales activity and pipeline reports.
• Track KPIs including sales revenue, gross margin, new account wins and project opportunities.

Key Performance Indicators

• Achievement of sales and profit targets.
• New customer acquisition.
• Growth of existing accounts.
• Pipeline value and conversion rates.
• Product specification wins.
• Customer retention and satisfaction.
• CRM compliance and reporting accuracy.

Skills & Experience Required

Essential

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in business development or technical sales.
• Proven track record of selling into:
  • Timber door manufacturers
  • Architectural ironmongers
  • Building products distributors
  • Construction product supply chains
• Strong commercial negotiation and presentation skills.
• Ability to work independently in a field-based role.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
