THE OPPORTUNITY

Own the South. Our client is a globally respected manufacturer of fixing and fastening systems for construction, and one of the most recognised names in the industry. They're looking for a driven Area Sales Manager to take charge of one of their most important territories: London, the M3 corridor and the South Coast.

This is a territory with real weight behind it. You'll be backed by a market-leading product range, serious technical support and a brand that merchants already trust. Your job is to turn that into growth: winning new stockists, deepening existing partnerships and making the territory your own. If you love the chase, thrive on relationships and want your results to be seen, this is your role.

YOUR TERRITORY

Based within 20–30 miles of London (or in London itself), with regular time in the capital, where many key targets and distributors sit. From there you'll cover south along the M3 corridor to Southampton and the South Coast, and around 20 miles north of London.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

• Driving sales growth across a 100% merchant distributor customer base
• Building strong relationships at every level of your customers' businesses: owners and management, sales counter teams, external sales and technical teams
• Turning prospects into spending accounts, and spending accounts into fully stocked, multi-range profile stockists
• Selling the USPs and added value of a broad, market-leading product range with genuine confidence
• Forecasting your pipeline and market trends so the business can plan supply, production and marketing
• Delivering a first-class customer experience every time, and going the extra mile for every account
• Representing the business at trade shows, customer events and site visits
• Planning your week ahead and keeping the CRM sharp, accurate and up to date

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

• A track record in field sales, ideally into builders' merchants or distributors in construction, fixings, fasteners, tools or building products
• Confidence and credibility with everyone from the counter to the owner
• Drive, resilience and a natural curiosity: you ask questions, spot opportunities and follow them through
• Excellent organisation and time management across a large territory
• Comfort with CRM systems and disciplined reporting
• Flexibility to stay away from home occasionally for meetings, training and customer visits
• A full UK driving licence

THE PROCESS

A first-stage Teams interview followed by a face-to-face second stage with the leadership team. Interviews are taking place in November, for a January 2027 start.
