Assistant Facilities Manager (Soft Services)

Location: Alvaston Moor Academy (multi-site role)

Contract: Permanent

Salary: £32,000

Hours: 40 hours per week (typically 8:00am – 4:00pm, flexibility required)

We are seeking a proactive and driven Assistant Facilities Manager (Soft Services) to support the delivery of high-quality facilities services across a small local estate of education sites.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong cleaning or soft services background to step into a broader facilities role, supervising teams and supporting overall site operations.

Based primarily at Alvaston Moor Academy, you will oversee services across 6 nearby sites (including secondary schools, primary schools, and a children’s centre), all located within close proximity.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and supervise soft services, including cleaning and caretaking operations
• Ensure cleaning standards are consistently high through regular audits and inspections
• Maintain compliance with health & safety regulations and best practice
• Deliver training, coaching and development for team members
• Monitor costs, waste, and resource efficiency
• Support administrative processes, reporting, and documentation
• Work closely with the Senior Facilities Manager to support wider FM activities

What We’re Looking For

• Strong background in cleaning / soft services environments
• Previous team management or supervisory experience
• Knowledge of cleaning standards, audits and compliance
• Good understanding of health & safety practices
• A proactive, hands-on approach with a willingness to learn and develop
• Cleaning-related qualifications (e.g. COSHH)
• Basic health & safety knowledge
• Full UK driving licence (required for travel between sites)
• Flexibility to work early mornings or evenings where required (e.g. audits, team supervision)
