Business Development Manager - Capital Equipment

If you know how to turn those benefits into capital equipment orders, we'd like to hear from you.....
We're looking for an experienced Business Development Manager to grow an established territory across Southern England, selling capital equipment into manufacturing and industrial customers.
This is proper solution selling.
Customers aren't simply choosing a machine and asking for a price. You'll understand their production process, identify where improvements can be made and develop a solution that delivers a genuine commercial return.
That might mean reducing operating costs, cutting waste, improving productivity, making better use of materials or freeing up valuable production space.
Deals range from around £10k to £1m, with sales cycles anywhere from a few weeks to 12 months depending on the size and complexity of the project.
You'll take responsibility for a large, established territory covering everything south of Birmingham, working from home and spending much of your time with customers.
There's an existing customer base and some pipeline to inherit, but this isn't an account-management role. We need someone who enjoys developing relationships, spotting opportunities and winning new business.
You'll:
Develop new business across manufacturing and industrial markets
Grow and develop existing customer accounts
Sell engineered capital equipment and integrated production solutions
Understand customers' processes, challenges and commercial objectives
Develop solutions around efficiency, cost reduction, waste and productivity
Manage opportunities from initial enquiry through specification, proposal and negotiation to order
Handle both shorter-cycle opportunities and complex, high-value projects
Work closely with technical colleagues to develop the right solution
The key requirement is a track record of selling capital equipment into manufacturing or industrial customers.
You'll be comfortable with:
Consultative, application-led or solution-based sales
Capital equipment rather than catalogue/product sales
Deal values ranging from tens of thousands into six or seven figures
Longer and more complex sales cycles
Selling on ROI and operational improvement, not simply price
Developing new business as well as managing existing customers
Working independently across a large geographic territory
Your exact equipment background is less important than understanding how to sell a technical capital investment that becomes part of a customer's production process.
Circa £55,000 basic salary, plus bonus, company car and a generous benefits package.
You'll inherit an established customer base and some existing opportunities, but with plenty of scope to develop the territory and win new business.
