Business Development Manager – Food Ingredients

The Opportunity

We are looking for an ambitious and commercially driven Business Development Manager to join our growing team and take responsibility for the sales and marketing of food ingredients across the Food, Bakery and Sports Nutrition sectors.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced ingredients professional who enjoys developing new business, growing strategic customer relationships and working closely with suppliers and internal teams to identify new market opportunities.

Reporting to the Sales Director, you will play a key role in delivering sales and profitability targets while helping shape the future growth of our ingredient portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver agreed sales, turnover and profitability targets across your industry sector and portfolio of accounts.
• Identify, target and develop new key accounts across bakery, sports nutrition and wider food sectors.
• Support and mentor more junior members of the team.
• Create and implement effective account management plans to maximise customer growth.
• Develop strong relationships across multiple functions within customer organisations.
• Manage and grow existing key accounts with food and beverage manufacturers, identifying opportunities for cross-selling and increased share of wallet.
• Identify gaps and opportunities within the existing product portfolio and recommend areas for development.
• Contribute to a positive, collaborative and high-performing team culture.

About You

You will ideally have:

• Ideally 5+ years' experience selling food ingredients into bakery, confectionery, savoury or wider food markets.
• A strong commercial mindset with a proven ability to identify and convert new business opportunities.
• Excellent communication, influencing, selling and negotiation skills.
• Good technical and market knowledge within the food ingredients sector.
• The ability to build strong relationships with customers, suppliers and colleagues across multiple departments.
• Strong organisational and planning skills.
• A proactive, entrepreneurial approach and the ambition to take the next step in your career.
