Business Development Manager - Road Freight

Location: Merseyside

Salary: Up to £45,000 DOE

Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm

Working Arrangement: Hybrid working available

The Opportunity - Business Development Manager - Road Freight

An established shipping and freight forwarding business is looking for a Business Development Manager to help grow its road freight operation.

This is an opportunity for someone with a background in freight forwarding or road transport who understands how the industry works and can use that knowledge to develop new customer relationships and generate business.

The focus will be on identifying new opportunities, building a customer base and increasing road freight revenue. You'll have the opportunity to develop the operation commercially while working closely with the wider business.

The Role - Business Development Manager - Road Freight

• Identify and approach potential customers requiring road freight and transport services.
• Develop new business opportunities and build lasting customer relationships.
• Generate leads through prospecting, networking and industry contacts.
• Understand customer requirements and work with the operations team to develop suitable transport solutions.
• Prepare quotations, negotiate rates and help secure new business.
• Develop existing accounts and identify opportunities to increase revenue.
• Monitor market activity and identify potential areas for growth within road freight.
• Work closely with internal teams to ensure new business can be supported operationally and commercially.

About You - Business Development Manager - Road Freight

• Previous experience in business development, sales or a commercially focused role within freight forwarding or road transport.
• A good understanding of road freight operations, pricing and customer requirements.
• Comfortable identifying new opportunities and building relationships with prospective customers.
• Commercially minded, with an understanding of rates, margins and profitability.
• Able to communicate effectively with customers and internal teams.
• Self-motivated and comfortable taking ownership of business development activity.
