Class 1 HGV Shunter Driver - Temp to Perm

💷 £16.29 per hour

⏰ 50 hours per week

Blue Arrow is proud to be partnered with one of the UK's largest logistics companies and is currently recruiting for a Class 1 HGV Shunter Driver on a temp-to-perm basis in the Runcorn area.

Shift Pattern

Week 1

• Monday to Friday
• 05:00 - 15:00

Week 2

• Monday to Thursday: 12:00 - 22:00
• Friday: 10:00 - 20:00

The Role

As a Class 1 Shunter Driver, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient movement of HGV vehicles, trailers, and equipment around the yard, ensuring vehicles are in the correct locations for loading, unloading, maintenance, and dispatch operations.

You will play a vital role in maintaining the smooth flow of the site's logistics operation, working closely with warehouse, transport, and operational teams to ensure all vehicle movements are completed safely and on time.

Key Responsibilities

• Shunting trailers and HGV units around the depot and yard.
• Positioning vehicles onto loading bays and designated parking areas.
• Ensuring trailers are available for loading and dispatch according to operational requirements.
• Conducting daily vehicle checks and reporting any defects or damage.
• Maintaining accurate records and adhering to site procedures.
• Following all site health and safety regulations and safe systems of work.
• Assisting with yard organization to ensure the safe and efficient movement of vehicles.
• Liaising with transport planners, drivers, warehouse staff, and customers where required.
• Ensuring high standards of professionalism when representing both Blue Arrow and our client.

Requirements

• Valid Class 1 (C+E) License.
• Minimum 6 month's HGV Class 1 driving experience.
• Valid CPC Qualification Card.
• Valid Digital Tachograph Card.
• Previous shunting experience is advantageous but not essential.
• Good understanding of transport and yard safety procedures.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• £16.29 per hour
• 50 hours per week
