Job Description:

BBS Recruitment is an independent recruitment agency specialising in the transport and logistics sector, supplying HGV drivers and other transport professionals to a variety of clients across the UK.

We are currently recruiting HGV Class 2 Refuse Drivers to work for our client based in the City of London, with immediate starts available.

This role involves operating a commercial vehicle to collect refuse and recyclable materials from designated routes across the City of London. Please note that this is a Driver/Loader position, so successful candidates will be required to get out of the vehicle and assist with loading duties.

The ideal candidate will have strong commercial driving experience, excellent safety awareness and a reliable, professional approach to work.

Duties and Responsibilities For the Class 2 Refuse Driver:

As an HGV Class 2 Refuse Driver/Loader, your responsibilities will include:

• Safely operate a Class 2 refuse vehicle, adhering to all road safety and traffic regulations.
• Collect refuse and recyclable materials from residential, commercial and other designated locations along assigned routes.
• Get out of the vehicle and assist with loading refuse and recyclable materials as part of the Driver/Loader duties.
• Work closely with refuse loaders and other members of the operational team to complete scheduled collections efficiently.
• Ensure waste materials are collected, handled and loaded safely and efficiently.
• Conduct daily vehicle checks to ensure the vehicle is safe and roadworthy.
• Report any vehicle faults, damage or mechanical issues promptly.
• Maintain accurate records of collections, route completion times and any issues encountered during the shift.
• Follow all company policies and procedures relating to health and safety.
• Wear the appropriate PPE at all times.
• Ensure all scheduled routes are completed safely and efficiently.
• Provide a professional and reliable service while representing the organisation appropriately.
• Work effectively as part of a team and follow instructions from supervisors and management.
• Assist with the general operational requirements of the refuse collection service.

Working Hours For the Class 2 Refuse Driver: 16:30pm - 00:00am Weekdays/ Weekends

Requirements For the Class 2 Refuse Driver:

To be considered for the HGV Class 2 Refuse Driver position, you must have:

• Previous experience as an HGV Class 2, delivery or commercial driver.
• Previous refuse collection or waste management experience
• A valid Category C (Class 2) driving licence.
• A valid Driver CPC qualification.
• A valid Digital Tachograph Card.
• No more than 6 penalty points, due to insurance requirements.
• Rear-steer experience is essential.
• Good knowledge of road safety and vehicle operating procedures.
• The ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Good physical fitness, as the role involves manual handling and assisting with refuse loading.
• The ability and willingness to work as a Driver/Loader, including getting out of the vehicle and assisting with collections.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• A reliable, punctual and professional approach to work.
