The Opportunity
A leading engineering consultancy is seeking an experienced Combat Systems Engineer to support high-profile maritime defence programmes, working on advanced surface fleet capabilities within a collaborative, hybrid working environment.

Your duties and responsibilities will be

• Interpret client capability needs and develop robust engineering design solutions aligned with defence standards
• Contribute to the development and assessment of electric propulsion architectures, including system layouts, power demands and equipment selection
• Engage with key stakeholders to define system requirements and ensure alignment with operational needs
• Evaluate propulsion options by analysing performance, cost, reliability, maintainability and associated risks
• Produce clear, structured technical reports delivering insights, conclusions and recommendations within tight project timelines

You will have the following qualifications and experience

• Degree in Marine Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline
• Chartered Engineer status with relevant experience, or significant industry experience supported by ongoing professional development
• Proven background in warship or naval electric propulsion systems, particularly within surface combatants
• Strong understanding of integrated electric propulsion systems, including design studies and ship acquisition phases
• Experience working within multidisciplinary project teams and managing technical risk in complex engineering environments
