Job Description:

Commissioning Engineer – 6-Month Contract

Location: Various Client Sites / UK Travel
Contract: 6 months initially
Rate: £35–£45 per hour, depending on experience
Type: Contractor

We are seeking an experienced Commissioning Engineer to support projects across a range of client sites on an initial 6-month contract.

This is a highly practical, site-based role focused on commissioning, snagging, fault finding and resolving outstanding engineering issues.

The successful contractor will be responsible for working through commissioning requirements, identifying problems, understanding why they have occurred and coordinating with the appropriate engineers, contractors or suppliers to get them resolved.

This role would suit a practical engineer with a strong mechanical and electrical understanding, particularly someone who has worked in a commissioning, maintenance, engineering or process environment.

Key Responsibilities Ideal Background

We are open to candidates from a range of engineering and process environments, including:

Candidates coming from a maintenance engineering background could be particularly well suited, provided they have strong fault-finding skills and the ability to understand wider process systems.

Essential Experience Desirable Experience The Person

We are looking for a practical, hands-on engineer who knows how to find problems and get them resolved.

This isn't simply a role where you will be expected to follow a checklist. You need to be able to look at an issue and ask:

What is wrong? Where is the problem? Why has it happened? Who needs to resolve it? What is required to close it out?

You will need to be confident enough to investigate issues yourself, while also knowing when a problem needs to be escalated to an electrical, controls, mechanical, process or specialist engineer.

The ideal candidate will have a strong practical engineering mindset, good mechanical and electrical understanding, and the ability to understand the overall process rather than focusing solely on an individual piece of equipment.
