The role

As a Graduate Cover Supervisor, you will play an important role in maintaining continuity of learning when teachers are absent.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supervising classes of secondary school pupils and ensuring they remain focused on the work set by their regular teacher.
• Distributing lesson materials and explaining instructions to pupils.
• Maintaining a positive, safe and productive classroom environment.
• Managing behaviour in line with each school's policies and procedures.
• Supporting pupils with their learning where appropriate, without being expected to deliver specialist subject teaching.
• Reporting back to teaching staff on pupil engagement, behaviour and any issues that arise.
• Following safeguarding procedures and promoting the welfare of all pupils.

What we're looking for

We're keen to hear from graduates who:

• Hold a degree in any subject.
• Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Are confident, approachable and able to manage a classroom effectively.
• Can engage positively with young people and build professional relationships.
• Are adaptable, reliable and comfortable working in new environments.
• Have a genuine interest in education and a commitment to supporting pupils' development.

Previous experience working with young people, tutoring, coaching or mentoring is advantageous but not essential. Most importantly, you'll need a positive attitude, a professional approach and the confidence to take charge of a classroom.
