Looking for flexible work in education without the commitment of a full-time teaching role?

Principal Education is looking for Cover Supervisors, Teaching Assistants and Unqualified Teachers to work in secondary schools across Hillingdon, Uxbridge and the wider West London area.

Whether you’re an experienced Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant, graduate, aspiring teacher, youth worker, sports coach, behaviour mentor or someone with strong experience working with young people, we may have opportunities to suit you.

We’re particularly interested in candidates based in Uxbridge, Hillingdon, Hayes, Ruislip, West Drayton, Ickenham, Yiewsley, Northolt, Southall and nearby areas. These opportunities are ideal for candidates looking for work within a reasonable and manageable commute.

We offer flexible daily supply work, allowing you to choose when you’re available, alongside longer-term opportunities depending on your experience and availability.

Cover Supervisors

Supervise classes in the absence of the regular teacher, deliver pre-prepared lesson materials and maintain a safe, positive and productive learning environment. No lesson planning is required.

Teaching Assistants

Support teachers and pupils in the classroom, including students with special educational needs (SEN) and additional learning needs, helping pupils stay engaged and make progress.

Unqualified Teachers

Ideal for graduates, aspiring teachers and experienced education professionals looking to gain further classroom experience, with opportunities across a range of secondary schools and subjects.

• Experience working with children or young people, whether in education, youth work, sports coaching, behaviour support or a similar setting.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to manage behaviour and maintain a positive learning environment.

• Ability to support pupils with SEN and additional needs.

• Flexibility, reliability and adaptability.

• Confidence working in different classroom and school environments.

• A genuine interest in supporting young people's learning and development.

• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.

• Right to work in the UK.

• An enhanced DBS certificate registered with the Update Service, or willingness to complete a new application.

• Overseas police clearance if you have lived abroad for 6+ months within the last 5 years.

• Based in Hillingdon, West London or a nearby area with a manageable commute.

• £115–£165 per day, depending on experience and role.

• Higher pay rates available for ongoing roles.
