We are looking for Crane Service Engineer (Electrically Bias) for a permanent position based with our client on Teesside.
Immediate start available (subject to interview process)
Salary is £40,000 to £48,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Key Responsibilities of Role
- Inspect, service, maintain and repair overhead cranes and lifting equipment across a wide range of industries including but not limited to overhead cranes, jib cranes, runway systems, hoists, light cranes and mobile gantries.
- Diagnose and repair electrical faults, often without the aid of detailed electrical drawings.
- Carry out fault finding and repairs on various equipment, such as:
- Motors, inverters and drives
- Gearboxes, hydraulics and pneumatics
- Control panels and associated electrical systems
- Perform basic welding and fabrication tasks where required (desirable).
- Operate and work safely with overhead cranes and lifting equipment, including slinging and lifting operations.
- Troubleshoot complex engineering challenges, ensuring minimal downtime for customers.
- Work safely at height and in confined or challenging environments.
- Maintain accurate service records and provide clear reports to customers.
- Deliver excellent customer service by being professional, approachable and safety focussed.
Day to Day Tasks
- Travelling to customer sites in your company vehicle.
- Conducting planned maintenance or responding to breakdowns.
- Diagnosing faults on electrical systems, drives, motors, gearboxes and control equipment.
- Inspecting lifting equipment and identifying safety or compliance issues.
- Carrying out necessary repairs, adjustments, or component replacements.
- Liaising with customers to explain work completed and advise on safety or operational improvements.
- Recording completed work and updating compliance documentation.
Key Skills and Experience
- Electro-mechanical background with an electrical bias (time-served preferred).
- Strong electrical fault-finding experience, confident working without drawings.
- Experience with three-phase systems and associated equipment.
- Hands-on experience with cranes, hoists, inverters, drives, motors and gearboxes (preferred).
- Understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics and mechanical lifting equipment.
- Welding/fabrication experience (desirable).
- Previous experience operating and maintaining overhead cranes (desirable).
- Comfortable and competent working at height.
- Valid UK Driving Licence (essential)..
