Data Protection Manager

Diamond Search Recruitment is representing an established and trusted organisation in the appointment of a Data Protection Manager.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Data Protection / Information Governance professional to step into a highly visible role with genuine autonomy, senior stakeholder exposure and the opportunity to shape how data protection operates across a complex organisation.

The Role

You’ll be the organisation’s key internal data protection specialist, working closely with senior leadership and an external DPO.

You’ll have the opportunity to advise, influence, challenge and drive change — rather than simply maintain policies.

Your remit will include:

• Leading Data Protection & Information Governance initiatives.

• Owning SARs, DPIAs, Privacy Notices and Information Sharing Agreements.

• Managing and advising on data breaches and information governance incidents.

• Leading IG audits and monitoring compliance.

• Taking ownership of DSPT requirements.

• Developing and maintaining IG policies, strategies and plans.

• Partnering with IT and security teams around cyber security and ISO 27001.

• Supporting cyber incident response from an IG perspective.

• Delivering awareness and training across the organisation.

• Providing expert, practical advice to operational, clinical and senior stakeholders.

• Keeping the organisation ahead of changes to legislation, regulation and ICO guidance.

What We're Looking For

We’re looking for someone who knows their stuff — but can also communicate it brilliantly.

You’ll ideally have:

• Strong experience in Data Protection and/or Information Governance.

• In-depth knowledge of UK GDPR and data protection legislation.

• Experience managing data breaches and sensitive information.

• Practical experience across DPIAs, SARs, audits, information sharing and governance.

• Knowledge of ICO guidance, FOI, DSPT and/or cyber security.

• The confidence to advise and influence senior stakeholders.

• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

• A practical, solutions-focused approach.

• Strong organisational skills and exceptional attention to detail.

A relevant qualification such as CIPP/E, BCS Practitioner Certificate or Level 4 Data Protection & IG Practitioner would also be welcomed.
