Deputy Manager – Residential Care Home

Location: Bexhill-on-Sea, East Sussex
Salary: £35,000 per annum
Home: Medium-Sized Residential Care Home
Contract: Full Time | Permanent

We're recruiting on behalf of an established care provider for a Deputy Manager to join a medium-sized residential care home in Bexhill-on-Sea.

This is an excellent opportunity to work closely alongside the Home Manager, providing day-to-day leadership to the care team and helping to ensure residents consistently receive safe, high-quality and person-centred care.

You'll also deputise fully for the Home Manager in their absence, taking responsibility for the safe and effective operation of the home.

The Role

As Deputy Manager, you'll play a key role in supporting the Home Manager with care delivery, compliance, staff development and the overall operation of the service.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting the Home Manager with the day-to-day running of the home

• Deputising fully for the Home Manager in their absence

• Providing leadership, supervision and support to the care team

• Mentoring new starters and supporting staff development

• Monitoring residents' wellbeing and ensuring changes are reflected in their care plans

• Liaising with GPs, district nurses and other healthcare professionals

• Supporting safe and effective medication management

• Promoting consistently high standards of person-centred care

• Championing residents' safety, dignity and individual rights

• Completing care and organisational audits and implementing action plans

• Reviewing accidents, incidents and complaints and ensuring lessons are embedded into practice

• Maintaining accurate care records, handovers and communication systems

• Supporting safeguarding, Mental Capacity Act and DoLS procedures

• Supporting the Home Manager with CQC inspections and assessments

• Completing monthly audits, quality indicators and required reports

• Identifying staff training and competency needs

• Taking day-to-day operational responsibility when deputising for the Home Manager

The role carries significant responsibility for supporting the Home Manager to maintain strong governance, safe care and treatment, safeguarding and regulatory compliance.

About You

We're looking for an experienced care professional with the confidence and leadership skills to support the Home Manager and lead the service when required.

You'll ideally have:

• Previous experience within an elderly residential care environment

• Experience as a Deputy Manager, Senior Carer, Team Leader or similar

• Strong knowledge of person-centred care and safeguarding

• A good understanding of CQC requirements and care home compliance

• Knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act and DoLS

• Experience supervising, mentoring and developing care staff

• Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills

• The confidence to take responsibility for the home in the Home Manager's absence
