Electrical Design Engineer

We are partnering with an innovative, product-focused technology design business currently scaling its multidisciplinary engineering team. This business develops custom, high-spec systems and offers an environment where your work directly impacts real-world hardware.

What You’ll Be Doing

As an Electrical Engineer within the product team, you will provide critical technical design, prototyping, and support across the engineering lifecycle. You will bridge the gap between design, purchasing, build, and service departments.

• Panel & Hardware Design: Lead the electrical design of panel-wired systems, including component selection (switches, relays, contactors, wiring) and design of relay logic systems.

• CAD & ERP Management: Utilise CAD and conventional drawing methods to create and update circuit diagrams, wiring schematics, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) within the ERP system.

• Prototyping & Hands-On Build: Assist directly in the physical build, wiring, and testing of prototype systems.

• System Protection & Compliance: Implement protection and coordination systems, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), and ensure all designs comply with key EMC principles and current standards/directives.

• Technical Engineering Support: Act as the technical authority for modification requests (MRNs), departure-from-drawing concessions (DFDs), regional power supply queries, and custom project requests.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Panel Design & Wiring Standards: Proven experience designing panel-wired systems and component selection.

• VFDs & Logic Systems: Strong practical understanding of Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), logic systems, and relay logic systems.

• Fault-Finding & Prototyping: Practical, hands-on experience building, testing, and troubleshooting electrical systems on the bench and factory floor.

• Electronics & EMC Knowledge: An understanding of basic electronic systems.
