Electrical Engineer - High Voltage

Trostre Steelworks may be looking for you! Tata Steel Trostre are responsible for producing 400,000 tonnes of tin, chrome and ‘polymer’ coated steels for the packaging industries annually. They are seeking an experienced HV Engineer, who holds in-depth electrical engineering knowledge, strong problem-solving skills, and a proactive approach to maintaining and improving high voltage infrastructure.
The successful applicant will be critical to maintaining the works running safely and efficiently. Only applicants with strong, UK based, high voltage systems experience will be considered.
Role: High Voltage Electrical Engineer
Location: Tata Steel, Trostre, Maes-Ar-Ddafen Road, Llanelli SA14 9SD
Rate: £48,867 - £58,641 (based upon experience but also negotiable)
Shift Patterns: Days, Mon-Fri, 36.5 hours per week
Responsibilities:
Managing the inspection, maintenance, and upgrade of high voltage electrical systems across the site
Being the first point of contact for National Grid and manage all work and permits on site accordingly
Ensuring full compliance with health and safety regulations and internal policies
Providing technical support for capital projects involving HV systems
Leading and coordinating planned maintenance activities, ensuring minimal disruption
Troubleshooting and resolving electrical faults quickly and effectively
Working collaboratively with internal teams and external contractors
Driving improvements to enhance system efficiency, reliability, and performance
Working to the highest standards of H&S at all times and encouraging others around you to do the same
Essential requirements:
Substantial experience within HV Electrical Engineering (5+ years)
Electrical Engineering qualification (Degree preferred but level 3 NVQ’s will also be accepted)
Proven experience working with high voltage infrastructure in a heavy industrial environment
Good all round understanding of engineering competencies
Specific expertise (proven) within HV systems
In-depth knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in electrical maintenance
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to work both independently and within cross-functional teams
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
