Job Title:            Electrical Estimator

Location:           Cambridge, Cambridgeshire

Salary:                £65,000 to £75,000

A leading Tier One M&E Contractor delivering high-quality building services projects across the commercial, R&D, healthcare and life sciences sectors is looking to appoint an experienced Electrical Estimator to join their growing pre-construction team in Cambridge.

Operating across East Anglia and the surrounding regions, the company has developed an excellent reputation for delivering technically complex and high value M&E projects for prestigious clients. Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of work, they are now seeking an Electrical Estimator.

As the Electrical Estimator, you will play a key role within the pre-construction team, preparing accurate and competitive estimates for Electrical building services projects for major developments. Working closely with commercial, operational and design teams, you will be responsible for managing the tender process from initial enquiry through to final submission.

As the Electrical Estimator, you will have the following responsibilities:

• Preparing accurate and competitive Electrical tenders for a range of building services projects using estimating software packages.
• Conducting detailed take-offs from drawings and specifications.
• Managing the tender process from initial enquiry through to final submission.
• Reviewing technical specifications and ensuring full compliance with client requirements.
• Liaising with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain and evaluate quotations.
• Maintaining and updating cost databases to reflect current market trends, labour costs and material pricing.
• Working closely with commercial and operational teams to support accurate cost planning.
• Attending site surveys, pre-tender meetings and client meetings as required.
• Providing ongoing support to project teams with variation pricing and additional cost analysis.
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with both new and existing clients.

Successful applicants will have the following qualifications and experience:

• Previous experience in a similar role as an Electrical Estimator within the Building Services / M&E sector.
• Strong knowledge of Electrical building services installations and associated systems.
• Experience preparing Electrical estimates on high value projects.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Strong numerical, analytical and organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tenders to strict deadlines.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
• Strong IT skills including Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
• Experience using estimating software packages.
• Relevant Electrical or Building Services qualifications would be advantageous.
