Electrical Fitter / Vehicle Electrician

Sunderland | Permanent | Full Time

Velocity UK Ltd are looking for an experienced Electrical Fitter / Vehicle Electrician to join our growing team in Sunderland.

This is an excellent opportunity to work on the build, installation, maintenance, and repair of specialist road-repair machinery operating throughout the UK. You'll play a key role in both new machine builds and the maintenance of our fleet, working within a skilled and supportive engineering team.

Working Hours

40 hours per week

• Monday to Thursday: 7:00am – 4:00pm
• Friday: 7:00am – 1:00pm

Key Responsibilities

• Wiring 12V and 24V DC vehicle systems
• Installing control panels, relays, switches and solenoids
• Wiring lighting, warning beacons and safety systems
• Installing and fault-finding sensors and PLC-controlled equipment
• Reading and interpreting wiring diagrams and engineering drawings
• Testing completed systems and diagnosing faults
• Repairing and maintaining specialist machinery and vehicles
• Supporting machine breakdowns both on-site and across the UK when required
• Working alongside the engineering team to resolve engineering issues and improve systems
• Recording repair and maintenance work accurately
• Maintaining high standards of housekeeping and safety

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years' experience as an Electrical Fitter, Vehicle Electrician or similar role
• Strong knowledge of 12V/24V DC electrical systems
• Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams
• Proven fault-finding and diagnostic skills
• Recognised electrical qualification or equivalent practical experience
• Practical, hands-on approach with strong attention to detail
• Full UK Driving Licence
• Basic Microsoft Office skills

• HGV Licence
