Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Electrical Project Manager to lead the electrical packages for a complex, high-spec Data Centre construction project in Frankfurt am Main.
In this role, you will oversee the full lifecycle of electrical engineering installation-from pre-construction planning and procurement through to site execution, testing, commissioning, and final client handover. You will manage specialist electrical subcontractors, collaborate with multidisciplinary MEP site teams, and act as a primary point of contact for client representatives and global supply chain partners, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to Tier III/IV mission-critical quality standards.
Open to candidates willing to relocate to Frankfurt or work on an agreed site-rotation basis.
Key Responsibilities
Project Execution & Site Management
- Package Leadership: Take full commercial, technical, and operational ownership of high-voltage (HV), medium-voltage (MV), low-voltage (LV), UPS, generator, containment, power distribution, and specialist electrical systems installations.
- Subcontractor & Resource Management: Direct, manage, and coordinate electrical subcontractors and specialist trades to ensure site progress aligns with the master construction schedule.
- Site Inspections & Quality Control: Perform regular site walks to enforce high quality, safety compliance, design specifications, and relevant international electrical codes.
Planning, Commercial & Cost Control
- Program Management: Develop and maintain detailed electrical installation, resource, and procurement schedules using MS Project or Primavera P6.
- Commercial Oversight: Work alongside quantity surveyors and commercial managers to handle variations, monthly valuations, change orders, and sub-contractor accounts.
- Procurement & Supply Chain: Source and manage long-lead electrical plant and machinery (transformers, switchgear, UPS systems), coordinating deliveries to suit site logistics.
Technical Coordination & Client Relations
- Design & Technical Review: Review electrical design drawings, technical submittals, and RFIs, working closely with BIM teams to resolve clashes and spatial coordination issues before site installation.
- Stakeholder Management: Represent the company at client progress meetings, design reviews, and subcontractor coordination workshops.
- Testing, Commissioning & Handover: Oversee factory acceptance testing (FAT), integrated system testing (IST), commissioning procedures, and client sign-off in line with data centre reliability standards.
Key Requirements & Qualifications
- Language Skills: Fluent / Professional Proficiency in English (written and spoken) is required for managing site teams, technical documentation, and international client interfaces. (German is not required).
- Experience: Minimum 5+ years of experience as an Electrical Project Manager or Senior Electrical Engineer in large-scale building services, industrial, or mission-critical construction.
- Education & Credentials: Degree in Electrical Engineering, Trade Qualification (e.g., Electrician / Master Craftsman), or equivalent technical qualification.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of major electrical power distribution architecture, MV/HV systems, generator configurations, and UPS systems.
- Soft Skills:
- Demonstrated leadership capability with a proactive, solution-focused mindset.
- Excellent commercial acumen and contract negotiation skills.
- Clear, confident communication skills for managing multi-national engineering interfaces.
Preferred (Nice to Have)
- Proven experience delivering Data Centre construction projects or mission-critical facilities (Life Sciences, High-Tech Manufacturing).
- Familiarity with NEC, JCT, FIDIC, or other international forms of contract.
- Valid site safety qualifications (e.g., CSCS, SMSTS, IOSH, or international equivalent).
