Marine Mechanic / Marine EngineerLocation: East Cowes, Isle of Wight
Hours: Monday to Thursday | 37.5 hours per week
Pay: £15–£17 per hour
Contract: Temporary with potential for permanent opportunities
Pertemps Isle of Wight is currently recruiting for a
Marine Mechanic / Marine Engineer to join a leading marine engineering business based in East Cowes.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a skilled and supportive team working on a variety of marine vessels and equipment. If you're a hands-on engineer or mechanic with strong mechanical skills and a passion for fault finding, repairs and maintenance, we'd love to hear from you.
The RoleYour day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Diagnosing mechanical and engineering faults on marine equipment and vessels.
- Carrying out servicing, repairs and preventative maintenance.
- Installing, removing and overhauling marine engines and associated systems.
- Working on propulsion systems, steering, fuel, hydraulic and cooling systems.
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical manuals.
- Ensuring all work is completed safely and to the highest quality standards.
- Working collaboratively within a professional engineering team.
About YouWe're looking for candidates who have:
- Previous experience as a Marine Mechanic, Marine Engineer, Mechanical Technician or a similar hands-on mechanical role.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Experience maintaining diesel engines, mechanical systems, vehicles, plant, machinery or other engineering equipment.
- A practical, hands-on approach and the ability to work through mechanical problems.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to health and safety.
Transferable skills are welcomed. You could be a
Car Mechanic, HGV Technician, Plant Fitter, Agricultural Mechanic, Vehicle Technician, Maintenance Engineer or have a military engineering background and be looking for an opportunity to move into the marine industry.
Marine experience is advantageous but not essential for the right candidate — if you have strong mechanical skills and the right attitude, we encourage you to apply.What's on Offer?
