Are you an Engineering Manager who can see beyond the day-to-day firefighting and has the vision to build a stronger, more proactive engineering function?
We're working with a leading FMCG manufacturer that is on a journey to transform its engineering operation, moving from a reactive maintenance culture towards a more structured, planned and strategically driven approach.
They are now looking for an Engineering Manager who can lead that journey.
This is not simply a role focused on keeping the machinery running. It's an opportunity for an Engineering Manager to shape the engineering strategy, develop the team and drive meaningful, long-term improvement across the site.
The role
You'll lead a team of up to 6 direct and 10 indirect reports, taking responsibility for both the day-to-day engineering operation and the longer-term development of the function.
Your focus will include:
·Developing and delivering the engineering strategic plan
·Moving the site from reactive maintenance towards a planned and preventative maintenance culture
·Strengthening the PPM strategy and improving CMMS utilisation
·Identifying and closing compliance gaps
·Developing the capability and skills of the engineering team
·Creating structured training and ongoing development plans
·Driving engineering standards, accountability and continuous improvement
·Improving equipment reliability and reducing repeat failures
·Leading engineering projects and managing contractors
·Planning and allocating engineering resources effectively
·Managing performance against key KPIs including planned maintenance, Health & Safety, quality and engineering performance
·Providing strong technical leadership across the engineering function
What are we looking for?
We're looking for an Engineering Manager who can combine strategic thinking with practical engineering leadership.
You'll ideally have:
·An electrically biased engineering background with a completed apprenticeship
·Experience within FMCG, food or process manufacturing
·Strong knowledge of planned and preventative maintenance
·Experience with CMMS and maintenance planning
·Proven experience leading and developing engineering teams
·A track record of identifying gaps and delivering improvement
·The ability to develop people and build capability within a team
·A structured and strategic approach to engineering management
·The ability to influence change and bring the wider team with you
This is an opportunity for an Engineering Manager who wants to make a genuine difference.
The business is already on a journey from reactive to planned maintenance, and they need someone who can help define the strategy, build the capability within the team and turn that strategy into measurable improvements on the shop floor.
If you're an Engineering Manager who enjoys developing people, improving systems and building a more proactive engineering culture, we'd love to hear from you.
