Job Description:
Personnel Selection Recruitment is recruiting for a hands-on Maintenance Technician / Maintenance Engineer to join our client, a long-established employer in the Andover area. This is a varied and practical role supporting the Manufacturing Manager with the day-to-day running of the maintenance department across machinery, site services, building maintenance and continuous improvement activity.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a stable, long-standing local employer offering a varied maintenance role within a busy manufacturing environment. The role is 39 hours per week, working Monday to Thursday from 7.45am to 5.00pm and Friday from 7.45am to 12.45pm. Salary is dependent on skill level and experience. You will be part of a practical team where no two days are the same and where your experience will directly support site performance, safety and improvement.
THE ROLE
The successful candidate will play an important part in keeping the site running safely and efficiently. You will be involved in planned and reactive maintenance, liaising with contractors, supporting health and safety standards and helping to resolve equipment or facilities issues promptly.
- Support the Manufacturing Manager with the day-to-day operation of the maintenance department.
- Liaise with contractors and coordinate maintenance-related site activity.
- Carry out a wide range of practical maintenance work, including machine repairs, building maintenance, light engineering and basic plumbing tasks.
- Promote and maintain health and safety standards, including completing risk assessments where required.
- Report defective equipment to the Manufacturing Manager and help ensure appropriate follow-up action is taken.
- Respond to planned and emergency maintenance requests in a timely and effective manner.
- Take an active role in continuous improvement events and site improvement initiatives.
SKILLS WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
- Trade background, apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3/4 or higher is essential.
- IOSH or similar health and safety certification would be advantageous but is not essential.
- Previous maintenance experience within manufacturing, engineering or a similar industrial environment would be preferred.
- Hands-on health and safety management experience would be beneficial.
- Experience in building maintenance, light engineering, basic plumbing or general site maintenance would be useful.
- CNC setting or machining experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
- Forklift licence desirable but not essential.
- Good practical problem-solving and maintenance skills.
- Ability to follow procedures accurately and within required timescales.
- Strong communication skills when working with internal teams, managers and external contractors.
- Good planning and organisational ability.
- Proactive approach to health and safety and continuous improvement.
- Ability to drive on company business within the UK.
