Field Service Engineer

Field Service Engineer
£47,000–£50,000 Basic | £70,000 OTE
North Manchester | UK & International Travel
I'm recruiting for a British engineering company that designs and builds bespoke process systems used by some of the biggest names in food manufacturing. Their equipment helps produce products supplied to brands and retailers including Greggs, Wagamama, Ginsters and M&S.
This isn't repetitive maintenance on standard production equipment.
Every project is different. One week you could be commissioning large-scale cooking systems, the next vacuum cooling technology or bespoke process equipment designed specifically for a customer's manufacturing process.
You'll be trusted to install, commission, fault-find and support equipment on customer sites across the UK and internationally, working closely with both customers and the engineering team to make sure every system performs exactly as intended.
What you'll be doing
Commissioning bespoke process machinery
Electrical fault finding and problem solving
Servicing, upgrades and customer support
FAT support and pre-delivery testing
Customer training and final handover
Working alongside software and project engineers to deliver technically challenging projects
You'll ideally have
An electrical engineering background
Experience commissioning or servicing industrial machinery
Strong electrical fault-finding skills
PLC knowledge (you don't need to be a programmer)
The flexibility to travel and enjoy customer-facing engineering
Why this role?
£47,000–£50,000 basic salary
Realistic £70,000 OTE through paid overtime and site uplifts
Bespoke machinery rather than repetitive production equipment
UK & international travel
Ongoing training and technical development
Approachable management and a genuinely supportive engineering culture
The opportunity to work on machinery supplied to some of the best-known names in food manufacturing
If you're the type of engineer who enjoys solving problems, seeing machinery come to life and being rewarded properly for your expertise, I'd love to tell you more.
