Fire Alarm Service Engineer – South
Location: London and the South
Working Pattern: Field-based / home-based
Salary: Up to £45,000 basic, depending on experience
The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Fire Alarm Service Engineer to join a well-established and growing fire and life-safety business.
This is a field-based role covering London and the South, offering the opportunity to work across a diverse customer portfolio. You will be responsible for planned servicing, reactive maintenance, fault-finding and repairs on a range of fire detection and alarm systems.
The successful candidate will be an experienced, customer-focused engineer who is confident working independently and committed to delivering high standards of safety, compliance and technical service.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out planned servicing and preventative maintenance on fire detection and alarm systems
Attend reactive call-outs and diagnose faults efficiently
Complete repairs and make-safe works where required
Provide clear recommendations for any additional or remedial works
Produce accurate, detailed and audit-ready engineer reports
Record test results, findings, actions taken and compliance information
Work in accordance with relevant British Standards, site requirements, risk assessments and method statements
Communicate professionally with customers, clearly explaining faults, completed works and recommended next steps
Maintain company tools, test equipment, vehicle stock and job documentation
Support right-first-time completion and efficient job close-out
Participate in the call-out rota as required
Essential Requirements
Strong experience servicing and fault-finding on a range of fire alarm systems
Confidence working independently within live customer environments
Experience working with leading fire alarm panels and devices, such as GENT, Notifier, Advanced or equivalent systems
Strong diagnostic skills, with the ability to identify root causes and verify system performance
A thorough understanding of testing, compliance and technical documentation
Strong report-writing skills and excellent attention to detail
A professional and customer-focused approach
Reliable, organised and able to remain calm under pressure
Enhanced DBS clearance or willingness to obtain one
Full UK driving licence
