Nationwide is an established employee-owned organisation looking to recruit an experienced Fire Alarm Engineer to join our engineering team on a permanent basis.
The role will involve working across a portfolio of large sleeping accommodation properties, carrying out planned servicing, maintenance, fault finding and reactive works to ensure fire and life safety systems remain fully operational and compliant.
This is a varied, multi-discipline position covering fire alarm systems, emergency lighting, AOV and smoke ventilation systems, disabled refuge systems, security systems and other associated life safety equipment.
Nationwide is committed to recognising and rewarding engineer performance. In addition to your basic salary, there are opportunities to increase earnings through call-out payments and a monthly performance bonus linked to company KPIs, with no sales targets.
As an employee-owned business, eligible employees can also be enrolled into Nationwide’s profit bonus scheme following the required qualifying period and annual enrolment dates. Bonus payments are linked to the company achieving its agreed profit targets and may be paid tax-free subject to the applicable rules.
Key Responsibilities
As a Nationwide Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
Servicing and maintaining fire alarm systems across Nationwide’s property portfolio
Carrying out planned maintenance on emergency lighting systems
Servicing and maintaining AOV and smoke ventilation systems
Maintaining disabled refuge and associated disabled safety systems
Servicing and maintaining security systems
Investigating faults and diagnosing system issues
Completing repairs and remedial works to the required standard
Responding to reactive jobs and emergency call-outs
Identifying additional remedial requirements where necessary
Completing works safely, professionally and in accordance with relevant compliance requirements
Accurately completing job records and service documentation
What We’re Looking For
The successful candidate will ideally have:
Proven experience servicing, maintaining and fault-finding on fire alarm systems
Experience carrying out fire alarm remedial works
Strong knowledge of emergency lighting systems
Practical experience working with AOV or smoke ventilation systems
The ability to diagnose faults confidently and work independently
A professional approach when working in occupied properties
A willingness to participate in the company call-out rota
A full UK driving licence held for at least three years, with no more than six penalty points
Gent fire alarm commissioning experience would be highly advantageous
Experience across additional disciplines such as disabled refuge, security or other life safety systems would also be beneficial, although further training can be provided.
