General Maintenance Technician

We are looking for a proactive and versatile General Maintenance Technician to join our Facilities & Maintenance team. This is a varied, hands-on role where no two days are the same. You'll play a vital part in ensuring our production equipment, buildings, and site infrastructure remain safe, compliant, and fully operational.
Working across both production and facilities maintenance, you'll carry out routine inspections, react to maintenance issues, support planned preventative maintenance activities, and coordinate contractor activities. You'll gain exposure to a wide range of electrical, mechanical, and building maintenance tasks while working closely with experienced colleagues across the site.

About the Role
We are looking for a proactive and versatile General Maintenance Technician to join our Facilities & Maintenance team.
This is a varied, hands-on role where no two days are the same. You'll play a vital part in ensuring our production equipment, buildings, and site infrastructure remain safe, compliant, and fully operational.
Working across both production and facilities maintenance, you'll carry out routine inspections, react to maintenance issues, support planned preventative maintenance activities, and coordinate contractor activities. You'll gain exposure to a wide range of electrical, mechanical, and building maintenance tasks while working closely with experienced colleagues across the site.
Responsibilities
-Carry out daily inspections and basic maintenance activities on production machinery and site equipment.
-Support planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities across the site.
-Respond to reactive maintenance requests and carry out repairs where appropriate.
-Perform general building maintenance, including repairs to doors, walls, floors, fixtures, fittings, and basic plumbing systems.
-Assist with the maintenance of air handling, ventilation, and compressed air systems.
-Monitor site conditions and identify maintenance issues before they become operational risks.
-Support contractor management activities, including permits to work, RAMS reviews, inductions, and PPE compliance.
-Maintain site grounds and support general housekeeping standards across the facility.
-Ensure maintenance records, documentation, and reports are completed accurately and on time.
-Promote a safe working environment by following company procedures and escalating issues where required.

Essential
-Previous experience in a maintenance engineering environment, ideally within a manufacturing or production setting.
-Multi-skilled maintenance knowledge with exposure to both mechanical and electrical systems.
-A proactive approach with strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to take ownership of maintenance activities.
-Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues, contractors, and stakeholders across the site.
Desirable
-Engineering or maintenance qualification (NVQ, Apprenticeship or equivalent).
-Experience supporting production machinery, manufacturing equipment, or production lines.
-Experience in facilities or building maintenance.
-Familiarity with permit-to-work systems, contractor management, and health & safety procedures.
