About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Remedials Team Manager to lead an established team responsible for generator remedial works, technical enquiries, quotations, parts and service requirements.
This role would particularly suit someone who combines strong people management skills with a good technical understanding of generator systems and components. You may already be managing a team within the power generation industry, or you could have progressed from a hands-on position such as a Generator Engineer, Field Service Engineer or Technical Engineer into leadership or management.
You'll be joining a well-established team, taking responsibility for its day-to-day performance while using your technical and commercial knowledge to improve processes, customer service and profitability.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead, support and develop an established Remedials team, providing clear direction and day-to-day management.
- Oversee the efficient processing of customer enquiries, quotations, orders and remedial works.
- Provide technical guidance around generator systems, components, parts and remedial requirements.
- Support the team with more complex technical enquiries and customer requirements.
- Ensure customer queries and technical issues are handled promptly, professionally and commercially.
- Monitor departmental SLAs, KPIs and team targets, taking action where improvements are required.
- Ensure CRM, sales and job management systems remain accurate and up to date.
- Monitor outstanding quotations, jobs and customer follow-ups to maximise conversion and commercial performance.
- Work closely with Service, Engineering, Parts, Sales and Operations to provide a seamless customer experience.
- Review key customer accounts and identify opportunities to improve service, efficiency and profitability.
- Lead handover meetings and ensure technical and commercial information is accurately communicated.
- Identify and implement process improvements that increase departmental efficiency and performance.
- Ensure compliance with company quality, environmental and health & safety systems, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
- Manage team holidays, absence, performance reviews and annual appraisals.
- Prepare departmental performance reports and contribute to management meetings.
What We're Looking For
- Strong technical knowledge of diesel generators, generator systems, components and associated parts.
- Previous hands-on experience as a Generator Engineer, Field Service Engineer, Service Engineer or similar would be highly advantageous.
- Alternatively, management experience within power generation, technical service, engineering, remedials or aftermarket operations.
- The ability to confidently understand technical faults, engineer reports, parts requirements and remedial recommendations.
- Previous experience leading or managing a team within a fast-paced service or engineering environment.
- Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of quotations, job management, costs and profitability.
- Excellent communication skills with the confidence to manage both technical and commercially sensitive customer queries.
- Strong organisational and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage multiple workloads and deadlines.
- A proactive leadership style with a genuine interest in developing people and continuously improving processes.
