The Job
As part of its continued international expansion, the organisation is looking for an experienced German speaking Marketplace Business Development Manager to lead merchant acquisition and business development across the German market. This is a highly commercial, growth focused opportunity for an ambitious Business Development or Sales professional with a strong track record of winning new business, building strategic relationships and managing the full sales cycle.

You will you will take ownership of the strategy and execution for German merchant acquisition, playing a key role in expanding the organisation's marketplace presence in Germany by identifying and onboarding high-quality merchants, brands, retailers, aggregators and strategic partners.

Working closely with senior stakeholders across multiple European markets, you will develop merchant recruitment strategies, present recommendations to marketplace and commercial leadership teams, and take ownership of execution through to delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute a clear merchant acquisition strategy for the German market.
• Identify, target and engage German merchants, brands and retailers across relevant product categories.
• Build and manage a strong pipeline of prospective marketplace partners.
• Generate new business through a combination of outbound prospecting, cold outreach, inbound leads, referrals and strategic networking.
• Manage the full sales cycle, from initial prospecting and qualification through to negotiation, contract signature and onboarding.
• Develop compelling commercial propositions tailored to the needs and objectives of German merchants and brands.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with senior decision-makers and key stakeholders.
• Identify and develop strategic partnerships with agencies, technology providers, aggregators and industry organisations that can provide access to German merchants.
• Develop a strong network within the German eCommerce, retail and marketplace ecosystem.
• Work closely with marketplace, commercial, digital, operations and leadership teams across European markets.
• Present merchant acquisition strategies, pipeline performance and commercial recommendations to senior stakeholders.

Candidate Profile

• Fluent German and English language skills is essential. Additional European language skills, particularly French, Spanish or Polish, would be an advantage
• Experience in Marketplace Business Development, Sales, Account Management, Partnerships or a related commercial role 
• A proven track record of achieving or exceeding sales, revenue or business development targets.
• Experience working with German based brands, retailers, merchants or businesses.
• Strong experience managing the full sales cycle, including prospecting, cold outreach, qualification, lead nurturing, negotiation and contract closure.
• Experience in marketplace, eCommerce, retail, digital commerce or a related environment.
• Strong commercial awareness and the ability to identify and develop high-value business opportunities.
• Excellent pipeline management, forecasting and CRM skills.
• Strong negotiation, presentation and relationship-management skills.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Confidence engaging with stakeholders at all levels, from operational contacts to senior decision makers.
• Experience working across international and cross-functional teams.
• A proactive, entrepreneurial approach and a strong appetite for new business development.
• The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with teams across multiple European markets.

Salary & Benefits
£60,000–£90,000 salary, depending on experience
