Job Description:

I'm currently working with a well-established structural engineering consultancy based in Hemel Hempstead that is looking to appoint a Graduate Structural Engineer to join its growing team.

With a strong reputation across the residential sector, the business delivers a broad range of projects including bespoke residential properties, large-scale housing developments, apartment schemes, and mixed-use developments for a loyal and expanding client base. The Role

As a Graduate Structural Engineer, you'll work alongside experienced engineers on projects from concept through to completion, gaining hands-on experience across all stages of the design process. You'll receive structured mentoring and support while developing the technical and practical skills needed to build a successful career in structural engineering.

Key responsibilities include:

• Assisting with the design of structural solutions for residential and mixed-use developments
• Producing structural calculations, drawings and technical reports under the guidance of senior engineers
• Supporting the delivery of projects from concept through to construction
• Attending client and design team meetings
• Working closely with architects, contractors and other consultants
• Carrying out site visits and inspections to gain practical construction experience
• Developing your knowledge of UK design standards, engineering software and industry best practice
• Working towards professional accreditation with full Chartership support

Project Portfolio

You'll gain exposure to a variety of schemes including:

• Residential developments

• Mixed-use developments
• Occasional commercial and education projects

Requirements

• A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or due to graduate this year)
• A genuine interest in building structures and structural design
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Good communication and organisational skills
• A proactive attitude and willingness to learn
• Experience with structural design software would be beneficial but is not essential
• Ambition to work towards Chartership in the future
