Head of Health & Safety / Compliance
Location: London / Agile working
Salary: £60,000–£65,000 per annum
Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday–Friday
We are recruiting for a Head of Health & Safety / Compliance on behalf of a leading organisation operating across London and supporting vulnerable residents and communities.
This is a senior opportunity for an experienced Health & Safety professional to provide strategic leadership and act as the organisation's key authority on Health & Safety and compliance.
The Role
Reporting to the Group Director of Property and Places, you will lead the organisation's approach to Health & Safety, compliance and risk management, ensuring legislation and statutory requirements are effectively met.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing strategic leadership across all Health & Safety and compliance matters
- Acting as the organisation's expert lead and responsible officer for H&S
- Developing and implementing H&S strategies, policies and procedures
- Keeping abreast of legislative and regulatory changes
- Providing regular H&S compliance reporting to senior management, Executive and Board level
- Overseeing General and Fire Risk Assessments
- Ensuring appropriate compliance monitoring, data and reporting systems are in place
- Overseeing Business Continuity and Emergency On-Call processes
- Providing technical advice on construction safety, CDM, COSHH and related areas
- Overseeing fire prevention and asbestos management documentation
- Managing H&S training requirements
- Developing positive H&S cultures across the organisation
- Managing outsourced services, contractors and audits
- Managing an annual departmental budget of approximately £500,000
About You
You will ideally have:
- NEBOSH/IOSH qualification
- Comprehensive knowledge of Health & Safety
- Strong knowledge of housing regulatory requirements, including RSH
- Knowledge of the Fire Safety Act 2021 and Building Safety legislation
- Experience delivering H&S at management level
- Experience developing H&S strategies and policies
- Experience managing contractors and outsourced services
- Strong budget management experience
- Experience managing audits, contracts and compliance systems
- Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills
- Experience within regulated housing and/or charity sectors would be advantageous
The position offers agile working between home and the organisation's London property portfolio, with occasional evening/weekend requirements.
