Job Description:

We are recruiting on behalf of an established OEM seeking an experienced and commercially driven Head of Sales to lead its national sales function. This is an excellent opportunity for a proven sales leader who thrives in a technical environment and enjoys balancing strategic leadership with hands-on customer engagement.

The successful candidate will take ownership of a small, high-performing national sales team, drive sustainable revenue growth, strengthen relationships with key accounts, and develop new business opportunities across the UK. This role requires someone who can lead from the front while building long-term customer partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, develop and motivate a national sales team to achieve and exceed revenue and profitability targets.
• Develop and implement the company's national sales strategy in line with business objectives.
• Manage and grow relationships with existing key accounts, ensuring exceptional customer service and long-term retention.
• Identify and secure new business opportunities across targeted sectors and markets.
• Provide coaching, mentoring and performance management to the sales team through regular reviews and field support.
• Work closely with engineering, operations and product management teams to deliver tailored technical solutions for customers.
• Build strong relationships with customers, distributors and strategic partners.
• Monitor market trends, competitor activity and customer requirements to identify commercial opportunities.
• Produce accurate sales forecasts, budgets and performance reports for senior leadership.
• Negotiate high-value commercial agreements and support complex sales opportunities.
• Represent the business at customer meetings, exhibitions and industry events as required.
• Ensure CRM systems are maintained with accurate pipeline, customer and forecasting information.

The Ideal Candidate

• A proven track record in a senior sales leadership position within an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) environment.
• Experience managing and developing a national or regional sales team.
• Strong technical understanding of engineered or industrial products, with the ability to engage confidently with engineers, technical buyers and senior decision-makers.
• Demonstrable success in driving revenue growth through both new business development and strategic account management.
• Excellent commercial negotiation and relationship management skills.
• Experience managing key national accounts and developing long-term customer partnerships.
• Strong analytical and forecasting capabilities.
• Excellent leadership, coaching and communication skills.
• A proactive, results-oriented approach with the ability to influence at all levels.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationally.
