Health and Safety Advisor (Contract)
£400 per day, Inside IR35
Initial 3-Month Contract, Potential to Extend to 12 Months
Plymouth, Devon

Search² is exclusively recruiting a Contract Health and Safety Advisor to support a major infrastructure programme in Plymouth.

This is an immediate requirement to provide additional Health and Safety support across a large-scale and technically complex project incorporating construction, civil engineering, utilities and the upgrade of existing infrastructure.

The initial requirement is for approximately three months, although there is potential for the assignment to continue for up to 12 months depending on ongoing project requirements.

The opportunity This would suit an experienced Health and Safety Advisor or HSE professional who is comfortable entering an established project environment and quickly becoming effective.

You'll be working closely with project teams, contractors and the wider supply chain, providing practical Health and Safety support across a varied programme of works.

What you will be doing

• Providing practical Health and Safety advice to project and operational teams.
• Working closely with contractors and the supply chain to improve SHE performance.
• Conducting site inspections, assurance activities and compliance checks.
• Supporting project teams with the implementation of Health and Safety requirements.
• Coaching and influencing operational teams and contractors.
• Supporting accident, incident and near-miss investigations.
• Identifying corrective actions and supporting their close-out.
• Supporting contractor assessment and ongoing performance.
• Reviewing Health and Safety performance and identifying opportunities for improvement.
• Supporting and delivering relevant SHE training.
• Working with project teams to identify emerging risks and implement practical solutions.
• Supporting compliance with SHE management systems and relevant legislation.

What you will need

We're interested in speaking with experienced Health and Safety contractors and professionals from construction and operational environments.

You will ideally have:

• NEBOSH Construction Certificate, NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent.
• Strong practical Health and Safety experience.
• Experience within construction, civil engineering, infrastructure, utilities, manufacturing or another complex operational environment.
• Experience working with contractors and operational teams.
• Practical knowledge of inspections, risk management, incident investigation and assurance.
• The confidence to challenge where required while maintaining strong working relationships.
• The ability to get up to speed quickly and operate effectively within an established project team.

Experience working on major infrastructure or complex construction projects would be advantageous but is not essential.
