Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Health and Safety Manager to provide technical leadership and assurance for critical life safety systems within a complex, high-risk environment. The role is responsible for ensuring compliance, reliability, and operational readiness of systems including fire detection, fire suppression, emergency lighting, smoke control, confined space safety systems, and emergency egress infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

·       Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for life safety systems.

·       Lead compliance, governance, and assurance activities in line with statutory and regulatory requirements.

·       Manage the lifecycle of life safety systems, including maintenance, testing, validation, installation, and commissioning.

·       Conduct technical audits, inspections, and risk assessments.

·       Lead incident investigations and provide root cause analysis and recommendations.

·       Review and approve designs, modifications, and new installations.

·       Provide technical oversight of contractors and service providers.

·       Support projects through design reviews, FAT/SAT, commissioning, and handover.

·       Maintain accurate asset records and technical documentation.

·       Develop training and competency programmes for engineers, contractors, and end users.

·       Drive continuous improvement, system reliability, and lifecycle planning.

Requirements

·       Significant experience managing life safety systems in a regulated, high-risk environment.

·       Strong knowledge of fire alarms, suppression systems, emergency lighting, smoke control, and confined space safety systems.

·       Experience conducting compliance audits, investigations, and risk assessments.

·       Proven contractor and stakeholder management experience.

·       Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

·       Experience using digital asset and compliance management systems.

Qualifications

·       Degree in Engineering, Construction, Safety Management, or a related discipline.

·       Incorporated Engineer (IEng), Chartered Engineer (CEng), or working towards professional registration.

·       Membership of a relevant professional body such as IOSH, IET, or equivalent.
