Mobile Heavy Plant Engineer - North East

£21.50 per hour | £50,310 per year | Overtime at 1.5x

Location: North East - covering Scotland & the North of England
Hours: 45 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:30pm (30-minute unpaid lunch)

Alecto Recruitment is recruiting for an experienced Mobile Heavy Plant Engineer / Heavy Plant Engineer / Plant Fitter / Mobile Plant Fitter to join a well-established operation with a modern fleet and a strong focus on minimising downtime.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Plant Engineer, Heavy Plant Fitter, Agricultural Engineer, Agricultural Technician, Forestry Engineer or Construction Plant Engineer looking for a rewarding mobile engineering role.

The Role

You'll be responsible for keeping a modern fleet operating safely and efficiently, working on:

• Articulated Dump Trucks
• Wheeled Loaders
• Material Handlers
• Heavy Plant & Construction Equipment
• Diesel Engines
• Hydraulic Systems
• Electrical Systems
• DPF & Exhaust Aftertreatment Systems

Your responsibilities will include:

• Planned servicing and preventative maintenance
• Mechanical fault finding and repairs
• Hydraulic fault finding and repairs
• Electrical fault diagnosis
• Attending mobile breakdowns
• Using diagnostic equipment to identify faults
• Supporting the workshop when required
• Carrying out inspections and maintenance
• Minimising machine downtime
• Travelling throughout Scotland and the North of England

You'll ideally have:

• Strong mechanical engineering experience
• Knowledge of hydraulics, electrics and diesel engines
• Experience with DPF, emissions and exhaust aftertreatment systems
• Experience using diagnostic equipment
• Good computer/tablet literacy
• Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills
• The ability to work independently
• A highly organised and methodical approach
• Excellent attention to detail
• A full UK driving licence

Experience within plant, agricultural machinery, forestry equipment, construction equipment, HGVs, commercial vehicles or heavy machinery would be highly advantageous.
