HGV Class 2 Driver - Heavy Haulage Rail Logistics

Location: Acton, West London
Pay: £19.00 - £30.00 per hour

Manpower is recruiting experienced HGV Class 2 (Category C) Drivers to support a major rail operation based in Acton.

This role involves delivering train parts, engineering equipment, and rail infrastructure materials across West London and the surrounding rail network. We are looking for professional, safety-conscious drivers with experience transporting heavy loads and, critically, securing them safely using straps, chains, and load restraint equipment.

Pay & Shifts

• £19.00 to £30.00 per hour, depending on shift
• Day shifts from 7:00am
• Night shifts from 9:00pm
• Flexible working patterns available
• Ongoing work

Key Duties

• Deliver train components, rail equipment, and engineering materials to depots and work sites
• Complete daily vehicle checks and defect reporting
• Secure loads using ratchet straps, chains, edge protectors, and other load restraint equipment
• Ensure loads are safe, secure, and compliant before every journey
• Complete delivery paperwork accurately
• Maintain high standards of safety, professionalism, and compliance

Requirements

• Valid HGV Class 2 (Category C) Licence held for at least 1 year
• Valid Driver CPC
• Digital Tachograph Card
• Proven experience securing heavy loads using straps and chains
• Strong understanding of load restraint regulations and transport safety
• Excellent attention to detail
• Flexible approach to day and night shifts

Load securing and strapping experience is essential. You will be responsible for ensuring heavy train parts and engineering equipment are correctly restrained using approved load restraint methods before every journey. Candidates must be confident using ratchet straps, chains, tensioners, and edge protection and have a clear understanding of load security regulations.
