HGV Senior Technician
Location: Rochdale
Salary: £23.69 - £25.69 per hour 
Hours: 42.5 hours per week (Full-Time, Permanent)
Shift Pattern: 3-week rota of early and late shifts
 
The Pay Rates (Earn More on Weekends):

• Weekdays: £23.69 per hour
• Saturdays: £24.69 per hour
• Sundays: £25.69 per hour

I am working on behalf of one of the UK’s largest and most successful transport operators, we are recruiting an HGV Senior Technician / PSV Lead Shift Mechanic to join an elite engineering team at an industry-leading depot in Rochdale.
If you are a skilled, qualified HGV Technician or PSV Technician, this role bridges the gap between senior hands-on diagnostics and shift leadership.

Key Responsibilities of the HGV Technician / PSV Technician
As the Lead Shift Mechanic, you will lead by example on the workshop floor:

• Troubleshoot complex faults, carrying out vehicle repairs, major servicing, and parts replacement.

• Act as the main supervisor on late shifts, taking responsibility for workflow and signing off completed work.

• Perform routine safety examinations using modern handheld data-capture devices.
• Attend on-road vehicle breakdowns/recoveries and carry out vehicle road testing where necessary to verify defects.

 
What You’ll Need as HGV Technician / PSV Technician

• Minimum NVQ / SVQ Level 3 (or City & Guilds equivalent) in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
• Prior supervisory or chargehand experience is beneficial, but we welcome applications from highly skilled Level 3 technicians looking to take their first step up.
• Full UK driving licence. A PCV (Category D) licence is highly desirable (if you do not have one, the company will fully fund and support you to pass your test).
