Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – Barnet

Location: Barnet, North London
Pay: £100–£120 per day
Contract: Full Time, Temporary
Start Date: September 2026

Teach Now is looking for a confident and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a welcoming primary school in Barnet from September.

This is a varied role suited to an HLTA who enjoys taking an active role in the classroom. You will work across KS1 and KS2, providing targeted pupil support, assisting class teachers and leading learning when required. You may also provide short-term class cover, deliver planned activities and work with pupils who need additional academic or SEN support.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead small-group and whole-class learning using teacher-prepared plans.
  
• Provide effective classroom cover when required.
  
• Support pupils across KS1 and KS2 with their learning and development.
  
• Deliver targeted interventions in areas such as literacy and numeracy.
  
• Adapt activities for pupils with different learning needs.
  
• Help maintain positive behaviour and an engaging classroom environment.
  
• Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and other support staff.
  

What We’re Looking For

• HLTA status or strong experience working at HLTA level in a UK primary school.
  
• Confidence leading groups and classes independently.
  
• Good knowledge of the primary curriculum.
  
• Strong communication and behaviour-management skills.
  
• An adaptable, proactive and reliable approach.
  
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to complete one.
  
• Right to work in the UK.
  

Pay is determined based on experience and qualifications.
