A varied client portfolio calls for more than sound HR advice. It takes someone who can understand different businesses quickly, build credibility with senior leaders and turn complex people issues into practical decisions.
An established, multidisciplinary advisory, tax and audit firm is seeking an experienced HR Business Partner to join its growing HR Consultancy team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. Working with clients across a range of sectors and business sizes, you'll combine hands-on HR delivery with commercially focused advice, while helping develop the consultancy's services.
The Role:
You'll be a trusted HR partner and key point of contact for a portfolio of clients, each with its own priorities, processes and systems. Your remit will span employee relations, organisational change, workforce growth and day-to-day HR support, balancing compliant advice with each client's operational and commercial objectives.
Alongside client delivery, you'll contribute to service improvements, new business opportunities and more effective use of technology.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing accurate, timely and tailored HR advice, taking ownership of agreed service levels, deadlines and quality standards.
- Managing investigations, disciplinary and grievance matters, drawing on Senior HR Business Partners for complex or high-risk cases where appropriate.
- Advising on workforce growth and change, including restructures and TUPE.
- Developing and maintaining compliant policies, procedures, templates and guidance.
- Designing and delivering client HR training.
- Building strong client relationships, attending meetings and client sites, and identifying opportunities for additional support.
- Contributing to proposals, prospective client discussions and new client onboarding.
- Using HR data, analytics and systems to inform advice, maintain accurate records and improve efficiency.
- Working with colleagues to strengthen consultancy services, resources and processes, while keeping advice current with employment law and HR best practice.
The Person:
Previous HR consultancy experience is essential, alongside experience operating as a commercially focused HR Business Partner and a CIPD or equivalent HR-related qualification.
You'll need a strong track record of managing client relationships, influencing senior stakeholders and translating business strategy into workable people solutions. Experience supporting scaling businesses, advising on workforce change and handling complex employee relations matters, including restructures and TUPE, will be important.
You'll also bring:
- Commercial judgement that balances people priorities with growth, profitability and operational needs.
- The ability to manage competing client requirements and adapt between different working environments.
- Clear communication, facilitation and presentation skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including using HR data to support decisions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and business systems used to support HR consultancy.
- An ability to recognise and support business development opportunities.
Expertise in developing and delivering client training would be an advantage.
Working arrangements
The role combines remote working, office attendance and time at client premises according to service needs. You'll attend the London City office at least twice a month to connect with the wider team and must be willing and able to travel to client sites as required.
