Job Description:
This is a chance to build the people foundations of a growing business rather than simply maintain what's already there. As HR Manager, you'll become the standalone people lead, working directly with senior leadership to create stronger processes, develop management capability and build an approach that can scale with the business.
You'll have genuine autonomy across both strategic and operational priorities. From strengthening employee relations and recruitment to developing policies, improving controls and supporting organisational change, you'll have the opportunity to shape how the business manages and supports its people as it grows.
What’s in it for you
- £35,000 - £45,000 per annum, depending on experience.
- Part-time working with flexibility across three full days or five shorter days.
- The autonomy to shape and develop people processes from the ground up.
- Direct exposure to the Managing Director and senior leadership team.
- A broad remit combining hands-on operational work with longer-term strategy.
- The opportunity to improve management capability and build scalable solutions for a growing business.
Your responsibilities as HR Manager
- Lead employee relations matters including absence, performance, disciplinary and grievance processes while supporting managers through each stage.
- Develop and maintain policies, procedures, contracts and employee documentation, ensuring compliance with employment legislation and GDPR requirements.
- Coordinate payroll inputs and manage key employee lifecycle processes including onboarding, induction, probation and offboarding.
- Support recruitment across warehouse, logistics, customer service and sales functions, improving processes from advertising and shortlisting through to interviews and candidate communication.
- Coach managers on people matters, strengthening management capability and creating greater consistency across the business.
- Drive improvements across engagement, wellbeing, retention, workforce planning and organisational change as the business continues to grow.
What we’re looking for in a HR Manager
- CIPD Level 5 qualification.
- Strong employee relations knowledge with a good understanding of UK employment law and best practice.
- Knowledge of payroll processes, people administration and employee documentation.
- Experience supporting managers across a broad range of employee matters and working with senior stakeholders.
- Experience developing or implementing people policies, processes or systems; exposure to a growing SME, warehousing, logistics, distribution or another operational environment would be advantageous.
Working hours: Part-time – ideally three days per week or five shorter days. Exact hours to be agreed.
