EHS Advisor

Location - Helensburgh (near Faslane)

What will you be doing?

• Acting as the EHS subject matter expert for the Oil Terminal and Project Managers
• Providing advice on occupational health, safety, environmental and process safety matters
• Supporting the site as it works towards full COMAH compliance
• Auditing site activities, systems and contractor performance
• Supporting CDM implementation and management on new projects
• Supporting the implementation of Safety and Environmental Management Systems in line with ISO 45001 and 14001
• Carrying out incident investigations and monitoring the close-out of corrective actions
• Producing regular HSSE performance reports for internal and external stakeholders
• Supporting emergency preparedness and the selection of improved safety measures for engineering changes


Where you'll be doing it?

You'll be based onsite at an Oil Terminal near Helensburgh. This is a newly created role within an organisation operating in the Major Accident Hazard industry, delivering and overseeing safety critical activities. You'll work with a wide range of stakeholders, from site operatives and senior leadership through to the Competent Authority (HSE, EA and SEPA). Occasional travel to other sites may be required.


What you'll need:

• NEBOSH qualification (an engineering degree is preferred)
• At least 2 years' experience in a health and safety role within a COMAH regulated environment
• Strong understanding of COMAH requirements, ideally relating to tank storage operations
• Knowledge of CDM within an operational organisation
• Awareness of process safety and the principles of ALARP
• Experience with risk assessment, including HAZOPs and HAZIDs, ideally within oil and gas
• Knowledge of auditing principles and HSE Management Systems
• Strong report writing skills and good Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
• A full UK driving licence
