HSE Consultant/Advisor

Ready for a change?
Are you an experienced Health & Safety professional looking for more variety, greater autonomy and the opportunity to work on major construction projects looking for a hybrid role?
Do you want to work for a successful, growing consultancy where you’re trusted to manage your own diary, build relationships with clients and use your professional judgement rather than simply tick boxes?
P B Safety Consultancy Ltd is continuing to grow as more clients recognise the benefits of our practical, professional approach to Health & Safety. We’re now looking for an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to join our team, supporting clients primarily across London, the Home Counties and Kent.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys being out on site, working directly with clients and project teams, and providing practical advice that makes a genuine difference.
The Role
You’ll work across a variety of client sites and construction projects, providing proactive Health, Safety and Environmental advice and helping clients maintain high standards and comply with UK legislation.
Your responsibilities will include:
Providing clear, practical advice on UK Health, Safety and Environmental regulations
Carrying out site audits, inspections and risk assessments
Working with site teams to identify issues and improve safety standards
Reviewing risk assessments and method statements
Supporting accident investigations and preparing appropriate reports
Delivering Health & Safety training and site inductions
Monitoring site welfare, setup and statutory requirements
Advising on COSHH controls and safe storage
Promoting a positive safety culture across client projects
Building strong professional relationships with clients, site managers and project teams
We’re looking for someone who can challenge when necessary without damaging relationships. You’ll need the confidence to stand by your professional judgement while remaining practical, approachable and solutions-focused.
What We're Looking For
You should have:
NEBOSH General and/or Construction Certificate
Membership of IOSH or APS
Previous experience in a Health & Safety role within UK construction
Strong knowledge of UK HSE legislation and relevant Codes of Practice
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
The confidence to work independently and manage your own workload
Good organisational and time-management skills
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
Experience working on large and/or complex construction projects would be particularly valuable.
Desirable
We'd also be interested in candidates with:
NEBOSH Diploma
Tech IOSH or higher
Facilities Management knowledge
Evidence of ongoing Continuing Professional Development
Experience preparing professional reports and delivering training
You don't need to tick every desirable box. If you have strong construction Health & Safety experience and believe you can bring something to our team, we'd still like to hear from you.
What We Offer
💷 £45,000 – £55,000 salary, depending on experience and qualifications
🚗 Travel paid from the moment you leave your front door
🌴 31 days paid leave in total – 28 days including bank holidays, plus an additional 3 paid days during our Christmas shutdown
🏡 Flexible remote/hybrid working when you are not required on client sites
💰 Company pension scheme
🤒 Company sickness scheme
📚 Professional fees and development supported, including relevant professional memberships and ongoing CPD
🤝 A friendly, experienced and supportive team
📈 Opportunity to develop your career as the consultancy continues to grow
Is This Your Next Move?
We’re not looking for someone who simply wants to work through an inspection checklist.
We want someone who takes pride in their work, can build credibility with clients and site teams, and has the confidence to provide professional advice when it matters.
You’ll have the independence to manage your own diary and workload, backed by an experienced team when you need it.
The role involves regular travel throughout London, the Home Counties and Kent, so it will particularly suit someone already based within or with straightforward access to this area.
Some nationwide travel and occasional overnight stays may also be required.
If you're ready for a new challenge and would like to be part of a successful consultancy that's continuing to grow, we'd like to hear from you.
