Job Title:  Humanities teacher
Location:  The Wenlock School, Dudley, West Midlands, DY1 3SB
Hours:      37.5 per week | Monday to Friday | Monday 8:15am - 4:30pm, Tuesday - Friday 8:15am - 3:45pm
Salary:      £45,000 per annum (not pro rata)
Contract:  Permanent | Term Time Only
Start:        September 2026

We are seeking an inspiring Humanities Teacher to join our dedicated, multi‑professional team. Our school provides a highly personalised education for students who benefit from smaller class sizes, tailored learning and a supportive environment. Key Responsibilities:

You will play a key role in shaping meaningful learning experiences for our students by:

• Planning and delivering engaging lessons for individuals and small groups, following our curriculum framework and teaching up to GCSE level in a core subject.
• Supporting nurture‑based programmes that help students build confidence, emotional literacy and self‑belief.
• Monitoring, recording and reporting on student progress, ensuring every learner is supported to achieve their potential.
• Creating a stimulating, well‑organised classroom environment that celebrates learning and encourages curiosity.
• Designing and reviewing Individual Education Plans, Behaviour Plans and personalised learning pathways.
• Leading on subject development across key stages as agreed with the Headteacher.
• Working collaboratively with Learning Support Assistants, care staff and colleagues across departments to ensure a consistent, holistic approach.
• Managing challenging behaviour with empathy and structure, helping students move from external regulation to self‑control.
• Ensuring student safety and wellbeing at all times, both on and off site, in line with safeguarding and risk assessment procedures.
• Contributing to whole‑school development, innovation and continuous improvement.

Who We’re Looking For

• QTS/PGCE required 
• Experience working with SEMH and challenging behaviour to re-engage the pupils back into their learning.
• Passionate about Humanities and committed to high‑quality teaching.
• Skilled at building positive, trusting relationships with young people.
• Creative, adaptable and able to tailor learning to individual needs.
• Confident working with challenging behaviour in a supportive, structured way.
• A strong communicator who thrives in a multi‑professional team.
• Organised, reflective and committed to ongoing professional development.
