Job Description :

Costco utilizes the IBM i (AS/400) platform to run mission-critical enterprise systems. Developers working on these systems generally focus on backend enterprise operations, integrating legacy frameworks with modern cloud infrastructure, and supporting large-scale supply chain and inventory workloads.

Core Responsibilities

• Enterprise Integration: Designing and managing API gateways, event brokers, and middleware to bridge older IBM i technologies with distributed platforms and modern systems.
• Legacy Modernization: Upgrading and maintaining systems in IBM-derived environments, ensuring high availability and continuous operational continuity.
• Backend Development: Managing complex data infrastructures (often utilizing DB2, SQL, and related database tech).
• Compliance & Security: Adhering to strict enterprise compliance, including payment card industry (PCI) and data security (PII) standards across high-volume transaction environments.
• Collaboration: Working closely with enterprise architects and system engineers to execute major platform software upgrades.

Typical Technical Requirements

• Legacy & Midrange Systems: Proficiency with IBM i (AS/400), RPG, CL, or COBOL.
• Modern Scripting & Databases: Hands-on experience with languages like Python, JavaScript, C++, or Java.
• Middleware & Integration: Familiarity with messaging queues (e.g., IBM MQ), API gateways, and event-driven architectures.
