This is a varied, hands-on role combining 1st and 2nd line support, BAU responsibilities and project work. You'll be supporting a busy educational environment where reliable IT services are essential to teaching and day-to-day operations.
It's a good opportunity for someone with a solid foundation in IT support who wants to broaden their technical experience and take on more responsibility.
What you'll be doing - Providing 1st and 2nd line IT support to teaching staff, administrative teams and students.
- Troubleshooting hardware, software, network and connectivity issues.
- Supporting Windows devices, Microsoft 365, Active Directory and user account administration.
- Setting up, configuring and maintaining laptops, desktops, printers and classroom IT equipment.
- Managing incidents and service requests, ensuring issues are resolved within agreed timescales.
- Supporting the maintenance of servers, networks, Wi-Fi and wider school IT infrastructure.
- Assisting with IT projects, including hardware refreshes, system upgrades and technology deployments.
- Maintaining accurate documentation, asset registers and support records.
- Working with colleagues to identify opportunities to improve IT systems and the end-user experience.
What we're looking for - Previous experience in a 1st/2nd Line IT Support, Service Desk or IT Technician role.
- Good working knowledge of Windows 10/11, Microsoft 365 and Active Directory.
- Experience troubleshooting laptops, desktops, printers and peripheral devices.
- Understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP and Wi-Fi.
- Experience supporting users both remotely and face-to-face.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical users.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and a willingness to get involved in project work.
Previous experience working within a school, college or wider education environment would be advantageous but is not essential.
Why consider this role? - Salary of up to £30,000 depending on experience.
- Opportunity to gain exposure to both IT support and infrastructure projects.
- Varied technical environment covering hardware, software, networking and Microsoft technologies.
- Hands-on role where you'll have a direct impact on how technology supports education.
- Opportunity to develop your technical skills beyond traditional service desk support.
