Job Description:
IT Support Technician
Proactive Personnel are currently supporting a well-established manufacturing business in Telford, currently looking for appoint an IT Support Technician.
The successful candidate will give technical support to computer users by identifying and fixing hardware, software and network problems, ensuring the organisation runs smoothly.
Hours: Monday to Friday, 39.5 hours per week
Salary Range: £29,000 - £38,000 per annum DOE.
Duties to include but not limited to:
- Be the first point of contact for end users & for support requests
- Find & fix faults in a timely manner
- Follow diagrams and written instructions to repair a fault or set up a system
- Update knowledgebases for others to refer to
- Talk staff through a series of actions, either face-to-face or over the phone, to help set up systems or resolve issues
- Install and configure computer hardware operating systems and applications
- Monitor and maintain computer systems and networks
- Troubleshoot system and network problems, diagnosing and solving hardware or software faults
- Replace parts as required
- Support the roll-out of new applications
- Set up new users' accounts and profiles and deal with password issues
- Test and evaluate new technology
Ideal Candidate:
- 5 GCSEs at grades 9 to 4 (A* to C), including Maths and English.
- Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems, networking basics, hardware, and peripherals
- Knowledge of M365 and Entra environments
- Proven experience in IT support, helpdesk, or desktop engineering roles
- Knowledge of Unix, Linux and IBM series I
