SEN Teaching Assistant - Complex Needs (KS1)

Remedy Education is seeking a confident, energetic and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEND provision within a mainstream primary school in Barking Riverside.

You'll be supporting a mixed Year 1 and Year 2 class of pupils with complex special educational needs, including pre-verbal children who require additional communication support and personal care.

We're looking for someone hands-on, proactive and resilient who is confident working in a busy classroom and passionate about making a difference to children's lives.

The Role

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with complex SEND needs.

• Support pre-verbal and non-verbal children with communication and engagement.

• Assist with intimate care, including toileting and changing.

• Support pupils with emotional regulation and challenging behaviour.

• Encourage independence, social interaction and confidence.

• Assist with sensory, practical and play-based learning activities.

• Work closely with teachers to maintain a safe and supportive learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate

• Have strong practical experience supporting children with complex SEND needs.

• Have experience working with pre-verbal or non-verbal pupils.

• Be comfortable providing intimate and personal care.

• Be confident managing challenging behaviour calmly and consistently.

• Have a patient, proactive and resilient approach.

• Ideally have experience in a specialist SEN school or SEND provision.

• Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one.

Role Details

• Location: Barking Riverside, East London

• Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday

• Start Date: ASAP

• Pay: Competitive daily rates
