Job Description:

The Colas Group operates internationally in all aspects of transport infrastructure. As part of the global organisation, Colas Ireland is primarily involved the distribution of bitumen products, emulsion and emulsifier manufacturing, and the provision of specialist road maintenance services on the national, regional and local road network. In Ireland Colas operates from 14 locations across the island of Ireland.

As Lab Technician, you will test and inspect various road construction materials to ensure they meet or exceed industry standards. You will be responsible for maintaining quality control for Colas Bitumen Emulsions Dublin, overseeing certification and production control, and working closely with colleagues and R&D teams to enhance product quality and support innovation.

You will maintain quality control testing for bitumen emulsions and polymer modified bitumen, ensure compliance with TII specifications, calibrate plants and binder distributors, and test raw materials. The role involves analysing test results, taking corrective actions, and maintaining all relevant records and certifications. You will liaise with technical managers, attend customer sites for quality purposes, and participate in product development and innovation meetings. Upholding Health & Safety, Environmental, and Quality Systems will be a key part of your work.

The successful candidate will have a science background with analytical, organisational, and communication skills. Knowledge of the asphalt or bitumen industry is an advantage but not essential. You should be self-motivated, adaptable, capable of working independently or as part of a team, and confident using Microsoft Office applications. Integrity, attention to detail, commitment to safety, and physical fitness are important, as is the willingness to travel to other Ireland locations to cover holiday if required.
