We are looking for a Senior / Lead Electrical Design Engineer to play a key role in delivering a major grid-scale energy infrastructure project, with a strong focus on Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and transmission network integration.

In this role, you will lead the delivery of electrical design from concept through to construction and commissioning, covering both LV and HV systems (up to 33kV). You will also provide technical oversight on how BESS assets connect into the wider transmission network (up to 400kV).

This is a high-impact position offering ownership of design outputs, stakeholder engagement, and technical leadership across a complex, large-scale programme.

• Lead and deliver HV/LV electrical design activities across the full project lifecycle
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineers and multidisciplinary teams
• Oversee production and review of key designdeliverables, including:
  • Electrical layouts
  • Cable schedules
  • Lighting and HLV designs
• Drive the integration of multiple systems, including:
  • Battery systems
  • Inverters
  • SCADA
  • Switchgear
• Ensure all designs comply with UK standards, regulatory requirements, and design governance processes
• Support and influence grid connection strategies for BESS assets
• Interface with key stakeholders including clients, contractors, and network operators

• Strong experience in HV/LV electrical design, ideally up to 33kV
• Proven background in BESS, renewable energy, or grid connection projects
• Demonstrated experience leading design workstreams or mentoring engineers
• Ability to review, approve, and take ownership of complex technical deliverables
• Strong understanding of UK engineering standards and governance frameworks
• Experience coordinating across multidisciplinary engineering teams

• Direct experience interfacing with National Grid or transmission operators
• Background in large-scale infrastructure or complex energy programmes
• Experience in grid-scale BESS or high-value energy developments
• Chartered status or working towards (e.g., CEng)

• Take a lead role on a flagship energy project at the forefront of the energy transition
• Influence technical direction and design strategy on grid-scale BESS developments
• Gain exposure to high-voltage transmission systems and complex network connections
• Work across the full lifecycle, from early stage design through to delivery and commissioning
