Lead Electrical Design Engineer
Up to £65,000

Our client is a leading global manufacturer of innovative fluid-flow systems and is looking for an experienced Lead Electrical Design Engineer to join their growing team!
The successful candidate will lead the design, development and delivery of electrical, instrumentation, control and automation systems across industrial and process-related projects. This position combines hands-on electrical design with team leadership, project delivery and onsite commissioning support.
Lead Electrical Design Engineer Roles and Responsibilities
- Lead EICA designs for industrial, manufacturing and process-related projects
- Produce and approve calculations, schematics, SLDs, cable schedules and panel designs
- Develop control architectures, instrument specifications and functional design specifications
- Ensure designs comply with BS 7671 and relevant electrical and safety regulations
- Manage the EICA scope of multiple projects from initial concept through to commissioning
- Develop scopes of work and manage project milestones, priorities and dependencies
- Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering input and supervise junior engineers and subcontractors
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring and guidance on engineering best practices
- Conduct site surveys, inspections, FAT, SAT and panel witness testing
- Support installation, integration, commissioning and project handover activities
- Resolve technical issues throughout the design, manufacturing and installation stages
- Lead design reviews and provide technical updates to clients and internal stakeholders
- Support proposals and tenders by providing technical input and assessing project risks
- Review and update electrical drawings while maintaining revision and document control
- Prepare technical submittals, BOMs and purchase requisitions with the Procurement team
Lead Electrical Design Engineer Ideal Candidate
- HNC, HND or NVQ Level 3 qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
- Strong EICA design experience within industrial, utilities, construction or manufacturing
- Previous experience leading or mentoring electrical design engineers
- Working knowledge of BS 7671, PUWER, CDM and the Electricity at Work Regulations
- Onsite electrical installation and commissioning experience
- Proficiency with electrical design software such as Amtech, Trimble ProDesign or NanoCAD
- Able to produce and interpret schematics, P&IDs, GA drawings and instrument schedules
- Strong project management, organisation and technical documentation skills
- Excellent troubleshooting, diagnostic and creative problem-solving abilities
- Confident communicator who can work effectively with clients, suppliers and internal teams
Lead Electrical Design Engineer Working Hours
- Monday to Thursday core hours: 09:30–15:30
- Friday core hours: 09:00–13:00
- Flexible working between 07:30 and 18:00, with lunch taken between 12:00 and 14:00
